Gratin dauphinois

Also called "scalloped potatoes". It is an easy to make recipe from the French Alps with potatoes and cheese. Once you get the basics you can add your own personal touch.

Gratin dauphinois from the French Alps with potatoes and cheese... very easy to make

Ingredients (for 4 people)

  • 1 kg potatoes

  • 50 cl milk

  • 1 egg

  • 100 g grated Gruyere cheese

  • 1 clove of garlic

  • 1 pinch of nutmeg

  • salt, pepper

Procedure

  1. Peel the potatoes and cut them into thin slices.
     
  2. Peel a clove of garlic and rub the surface of a gratin dish with it.
     
  3. Place a layer of potatoes on the bottom of the dish, Cover it with the grated gruyere, salt and pepper. Add a pinch of nutmeg and some milk.
     
  4. Repeat this operation several times to fill up the gratin dish.
     
  5. Put in the oven for 45 minutes at 210°C.

How to Serve :

Serve very hot.
