Camembert puff pastry

Served as an entrée or dessert,  this recipe from Normandy unites two of the main regional products : apples and Camembert cheese.

Ingredients (for 4 people)

  • 1Camembert  cheese

  • 2 rolls of puff pastry

  • 50 g of flour

  • 2 apples

  • 1 egg yolk

Procedure

  1. Spread the two rolls of pastry over work area and sprinkle with flour.

  2. Cut out 4 circles with a diameter of 15-20 cm.  Remove the crust from the camembert and divide it in 6 parts.

  3. Peel  and core the apples. Cut them in fine slices.

  4. In every circle of the pastry place a few apple slices and 4 pieces of camembert. Cover the edges of the pastry with yolk.

  5. Fold the pastry in half forming semicircles. Press the edges together.

  6. Bake for 20 minutes at 200°C. Ventilate your kitchen well during the process, because the aroma could be strong.
